Chinese Archaic Jade – Dragon Pendants


S-shaped dragon pendants were widely popular during the Warring States period (Eastern Zhou)  and continued  into early Western Han dynasty with more intricate designs. The great amount of effort, excellent craftsmanship and strong cultural immersion back then makes it difficult to replicate a piece of similar “spirit” today.

  1. Think the pei yii were common through the whole Zhou/Cho dynasty, not just the warring states. Most collections always label Zhou Pei-yii as “Warring states” as this period is regarded as the pinacle of early jade manufacture
